On 8th December 2025, 507001 ran for a second time on the test track at ALSTOM’s Litchurch Lane works in Derby. This time the unit carried passengers: invited guests of ALSTOM, as part of a celebration of the success of The Greatest Gathering event in August. This marks the first time 507001 has had passengers on board since the Sefton Sparkler tour in November 2024.

The Greatest Gathering raised more than £100,000 from the event’s ticket sales, vendor fees and merchandise. Revenues will now be split between Railway 200’s five chosen charities – Alzheimer’s Research UK, Railway Benefit Fund, Railway Children, Railway Mission and Transport Benevolent Fund CIO – alongside more than 50 railway heritage organisations that took part in the event itself.

Following a presentation in J Shop, Alstom colleagues were invited to visit the test track where they were treated to a ride aboard 507001, which was one of the many trains exhibited at the event.

We were also pleased to welcome some volunteers and supporters of the Class 507 Preservation Society on board to enjoy a ride on our historic electric train. With the unit reaching speeds of 40mph, we are the fastest EMU in preservation!

Thanks to all the team at Alstom, as well as to the C507PS engineering and operations team who have worked tirelessly to ensure 507001 was in top condition for this day.
