Changes to the committee
Posted on 2nd November 2026 at 12:00 pm
As we move forward with the next phase of 507001’s preservation, we have made some changes to the society’s committee. These changes are intended to ensure that people are in the most suitable roles, putting the society in the strongest possible position as we move into 2027.
Founding member Robert Hampton steps back as chair of the society, with Jake D’Arcy, previously Head of Operations, taking on the role. Jake will lead the society going forward, drawing on his wealth of experience and industry contacts from his “day job” as a main line train driver.
James Gleig has stepped down as Treasurer to focus on family commitments and is no longer on the committee. Robert Hampton has replaced him as Treasurer. All of the committee would like to express their gratitude to James for his hard work on behalf of the society over the past few years.
Jamie Connerty, formerly Operations & Projects manager, becomes Head of Operations, taking over that role from Jake.
We’re also pleased to welcome Simon Poulton onto the committee in a new role as Head of Development. Simon will be a familiar figure to anyone who has visited us at shows or come to Derby, as he has dedicated a lot of time and effort to the society over the past couple of years. Simon has been co-opted onto the committee, a decision which will be ratified by the society’s members at the next AGM.
Paul Knapton stays on as secretary and Tom Camps remains Head of Engineering.
The current committee can be found listed on the contact us page.
